Brian Pearce of Wells Fargo Advisors and Bill Daly, Senior VP for Government Relations participated on behalf of BDA in the MSRB’s annual Roundtable on January 14, 2011. The Roundtable included representatives of issuers (the Government Finance Officers Association, the National Association of State Treasurers, the National Association of State Auditors Comptrollers and Treasurers and the National Association of Health and Educational Facilities Finance Authorities), NABL, the American Bankers Association, the Investment Company Institute, the National Association of Independent Public Finance Advisors, the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and SIFMA as well as BDA.
There was a wide-ranging discussion that included the MSRB’s new responsibilities for the regulation of municipal advisors, possible changes to the current disclosure regime, the MSRB’s new responsibility to protect issuers, and the possibility of challenges to the tax-exemption of municipal bonds in the context of tax reform proposals.
